Our youngest Cheshire stars competed in the 8U County Cup in Sunderland last weekend. A long trek for small legs, but our players took it all in their stride.

Our 8U Captain, Amanda Twigg, sent over this lovely summary of how the teams got on:

"It was a longer trip for the 8U County Cup teams this year as we were placed in the Sunderland group. Boys arrived first to have a training session before the morning’s competition.  Our players, from the Birchwood and Widnes clubs, started strong. We won our group and the boys showed great team spirit to prevail in the final, which was satisfying because we haven’t done that in a few years.

The girls, from Poynton, DLCO, Birkenhead, Bramhall Lane and Birchwood, arrived at lunchtime and followed in the boy’s footsteps. They won their group so the final beckoned. The tie against Northumberland proved tight, and a few points here and there saw Northumberland triumph.  However, the runner up position is a wonderful effort. Well done to the Captain, Cerys Hughes, and the team. I am sure the girls will go on to great things in the future.

It was a long way to take young players, but I am sure the experience gained will benefit them in the future. Well done to all."

Amanda Twigg - Boys team captain

A massive congratulations to our winning Boys' team and our Runner-Up Girls' team. Achieving these results against tough opposition, especially after such a long journey, speaks volumes about the talent and character brewing in Cheshire. A big thank you also goes to Amanda and the team for the incredible support and leadership.
