Both of our 9U teams qualified for the North finals at Nottingham Tennis Centre over the weekend. The girls led by Lauren Banks and Amanda Twigg were up first on Saturday with the same set of players from the qualifying event. In the group the girls were up against Northumberland, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, and West of Scotland. The girls got off to a flying start beat Northumberland 5-1 and never really looked back. They quickly went on to beat Northamptonshire 6-0 and West of Scotland 6-0 with all the girls contributing to these 2 results. The last match was a winner takes all with Warwickshire. The girls we’re 3-1 up after the singles and only needing 1 more rubber to win the match. Both pairs dominated their doubles match only dropping 2 games between both matches, and with that victory the girls were crowned the North finals winners. There is a real bond with this team and you can see this when their supporting each other.

Junior County Performance Co-ordinator, Simon Thornewill, said, “This was a fantastic weekend for our 9U County Cup teams with he girls winning the finals and the boys finishing runners up. I am extremely proud of all the players, coaches and parents, this was a massive team effort from everyone involved in running the team and everyone behind the scenes working with these players on a day to day basis. The team bond these players have has been embedded into them from the previous years and you could feel them all pulling for each other to achieve something special. Well done to everyone.”
