10U Boys Report

Coaches: Max Enston and Daniel Longshaw

Team: Nithin Sailesh, George Christodoulou, Remi Annable, Michael Zheng, and Oliver Cross

The boys faced South Wales, Yorkshire, Lancashire, and Cumbria over the weekend.

Their opening match was against Cumbria. Cheshire quickly found their rhythm, taking a 4–0 lead after the singles matches before comfortably winning both doubles to secure a 6–0 victory.

Next up was Lancashire, always a strong and competitive opponent. The singles were evenly split, leaving the match finally balanced at 2–2 heading into the doubles. Cheshire’s first pair won comfortably at No. 1, while the second pair edged a thrilling match tie-break 10–7 to seal a 4–2 win.

On Day 2, the boys faced South Wales. Victories at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 gave Cheshire a 3–1 advantage after the singles. South Wales claimed the No. 2 doubles, but Cheshire responded by winning a closely contested No. 1 doubles match to secure another 4–2 victory.

The final match against Yorkshire would decide the title. Yorkshire won at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 4 in the singles, while Cheshire’s No. 2 player battled to an 11–9 match tie-break victory. Cheshire’s second doubles pair also prevailed 10–7 in a match tie-break, but Yorkshire won the No. 1 doubles to take the match 4–2.

Cheshire finished the competition in an excellent second place.

10U Girls Report

Coaches: Lauren Banks and Amanda Twigg

Team: Eleanor Charters, Carmelita Oyang Awah, Isla Mayers, Rose Mattingly, and Niamh Parker

The girls competed on home soil at the Wirral Tennis Centre against Northumberland, Lancashire, Cambridgeshire, and Warwickshire.

Their opening match was against Northumberland. Cheshire made a strong start, taking a 3–1 lead after the singles matches. The girls then won both doubles rubbers to complete an impressive 5–1 victory.

The next match was against Warwickshire, and Cheshire delivered another dominant singles performance, winning all four matches to establish a 4–0 lead. The doubles were shared, with Cheshire winning at No. 2 but losing at No. 1, resulting in another 5–1 win.

On Day 2, the girls faced Lancashire. Cheshire recorded singles victories at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 4 before winning both doubles matches to secure a 5–1 success.

The final match against Cambridgeshire offered the opportunity to claim the title. The girls rose to the occasion brilliantly, winning all four singles matches to take complete control. With the doubles played as single-set matches, Cheshire maintained their momentum and won both rubbers to complete a perfect finish and be crowned champions.

An outstanding team performance saw the girls win the event in style.

“Both teams carried on the level they displayed during the qualifying weekend and should be extremely proud of their achievements. The girls showed tremendous consistency and confidence to win the title, while the boys demonstrated great character and determination against some very strong counties to finish second. The future looks bright for this committed group of players, and I would like to thank the coaches, parents, and supporters who helped make the weekend such a success.” - Simon Thornewill (County Lead)

A huge congratulations goes to our winning Girls' team and our Runner-Up Boys' team. A big thank you also goes to the team captains and parents for the incredible support and leadership!
