Lymm find success in the Ladies 50+ Cheshire Shield

With four clubs entering this year’s Ladies 50+ Cheshire Shield, what started as a logistics problem for referee Tom Brown, in trying to ensure the players had enough matches, actually resulted in the presentation just seconds before Bidston turned the lights out!

The four clubs played a "winner takes all" round robin format with each pair playing the best of three sets match against their respective pair. There were some long matches with one match lasting nearly two hours! Everyone felt they had some competitive matches with many matches being split with one pair winning and one pair losing. The only exception was Lymm who won all their matches. A very youthful Lymm team who were at the young end of "over 50" (and some didn't even look 40!!) dominated their opposition, winning 12 out of 12 sets and producing some quality tennis in the process.

Runners up were David Lloyd Cheshire Oaks, who were the only other team to win both matches against one club.

The four clubs were;

Bramhall Lane LTC

Bowdon LTC

David Lloyd Cheshire Oaks

Lymm Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club
