The sun was shining and the stakes were high over at Lymm Lawn Tennis Club for the annual Men’s Cheshire Shield 2026 on Sunday 21st June.
It was a brilliant day of tennis from start to finish, with beautiful, sunny weather providing the perfect backdrop for some of the county’s top talent. Eight of the best teams from across Cheshire turned out to battle it out for the prestigious title, making for an unforgettable day of competition.
The tournament kicked off with two incredibly close groups of four. Every match mattered, but ultimately it was Widnes and David Lloyd Cheshire Oaks who topped their respective groups to book their spots in the final.
The final certainly didn't disappoint. With the two teams locked in a fierce battle, the entire championship came down to a dramatic 10-point shootout. In a tense tie-break, Widnes showed nerves of steel to take it 10-7 and claim the crown!
Congratulations to Widnes, the 2026 Men’s Cheshire Shield Winners! A massive shoutout also goes to runners-up David Lloyd Cheshire Oaks for a fantastic campaign and a brilliant final.

An event like this doesn't happen without a lot of hard work behind the scenes. A special thank you goes out to everyone who helped organise the day at Lymm LTC, and a huge thank you to all the players who participated and gave it their all.
