We had an incredible day at the Ilkley Lexus tournament for the Northern Female Networking Event on Monday 8th June! Alongside our neighbours from across the North, Cheshire coaches and volunteers came together to share ideas, tackle challenges like female player retention, and discuss how we can get more women into coaching.

Cheshire Tennis had 2 members of the EDI committee helping on the day – Carole Needham from Helsby TC and Pat Shields from Lymm TC. Cheshire had a good number of volunteers and coaches who attended and this is what they had to say…..

“It was useful to share some of the good practice initiatives across the different counties. The group discussed the ongoing challenges of recruiting and retaining female players in tennis. There was further discussion about the continued imbalance in the ratio of male to female coaches which is something that still needs to be addressed.”

All attendees enjoyed a lovely lunch and participated in a fun, hands-on tennis engagement activity run by Nalette Tucker, a Serves Activator from Yorkshire.

At the end of the day, the sun shone and everyone  watched some magnificent tennis on the grass.

We look forward to supporting future events! If you would like to get involved in upcoming events like this, please get in touch with Jayne via email: Jayne@cheshiretennis.org.uk
